Student Driving Code of Conduct Released; Permission Form Now Available from Reception

Term 2, Week 5 · The Bulletin Desk

The Senior School has released a Student Driving Code of Conduct, effective immediately, which establishes new requirements for students wishing to drive to and from school.

Under the new policy, any student intending to drive to school must obtain written permission from both their parents or guardians and the school. The permission form, which runs to three pages and requires signatures in four separate places, is available from Reception, assuming they haven't lost it.

The Code of Conduct includes the following provisions: students must park in designated areas (see: Parking Lots Declared Decoration Only), vehicles must be registered with the school, and students may not transport other students without additional written consent from those students' parents.

The Deputy Headmaster noted that the policy is not intended to discourage student driving, but rather to "ensure that all relevant parties are aware of all relevant things, in writing, preferably in triplicate."

Students are reminded that the Pacific Highway gate is for ceremonial use only and that vehicles entering the grounds for aesthetic purposes must remain stationary between 7:05am and 3:30pm. The school suggests that students who actually need to get places consider the train, which the school notes is "how most people do it."
